Kitchen Remodel Cost in Kansas City
Kitchens are expensive. No way around that. They are also the project where you can call three contractors, describe the same room, and get back three numbers that are not even close. So let us skip the runaround. Below is what a kitchen tends to cost here in Kansas City, where the money actually goes, and a realistic count of the weeks it eats up. Play with the estimator, then ask Dave for a free line-item quote when you want a number you can hold us to.

The Short Answer
Kitchen remodel price ranges in Kansas City
Nearly every kitchen we build drops into one of three buckets. Yours depends on a handful of things. Does the current layout actually suit how you cook, or do you fight it every night? How many of the cabinets are you really swapping out? How far do you want to push the finishes before you flinch at the total? The ranges below are the ones we see across the metro, Leawood to the Northland. Not a tidy national figure off somebody's chart.
| Project type | Typical range | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Cosmetic refresh | $18,000 to $35,000 | New counters, backsplash, paint, hardware and lighting. Your cabinets and layout stay put. |
| Mid-range remodel | $40,000 to $75,000 | All new cabinets in the same footprint, quartz counters, flooring and appliances. |
| Full gut remodel | $70,000 to $120,000+ | Walls move, a new layout goes in, custom cabinetry, premium counters and higher-end appliances. |

Where the Money Goes
What drives your kitchen remodel cost
Cabinets. If you only remember one line from this page, make it that one. The gap between stock, semi-custom and full custom can run into the tens of thousands on its own, long before a counter or an appliance ever shows up.
Counters follow the material you choose. A laminate top, a quartz slab and a piece of real natural stone are three very different conversations, and three very different invoices.
Then there is anything that touches plumbing, gas or electrical. Nudge the sink across the room, or slide the range to a new wall, and you have just added a trade plus another inspection to sit and wait on.
Pulling out a wall is a line item all its own. Suddenly we are into framing, maybe a beam if the thing is load bearing, and fresh drywall before a single finish goes up.
Appliances are the wild card nobody budgets for honestly. A builder-grade package and a pro range with a real hood can be several times apart.
And then the unglamorous stuff. Permits, the dumpster parked out front, the paper and plastic that keeps your floors and hallway alive through demo. We write all of that onto the quote instead of letting it ambush you around week three.
How Long It Takes
Your kitchen remodel timeline
Design and selections
2 to 4 weeks
We measure, draw it up, and get the cabinets, counters and finishes locked down before anybody so much as picks up a hammer.
Demo and rough-in
1 to 2 weeks
The old kitchen comes out in a hurry. Plumbing, gas and wiring get reset for the new plan, and then the inspector has to sign off before we move on.
Cabinets, counters, tile
3 to 5 weeks
Boxes hang first. Counters get templated, then installed a week or two later once they are fabricated. Backsplash and flooring follow behind.
Finish and punch list
1 to 2 weeks
Appliances in, trim and paint done, and a walkthrough where you and Dave go looking for anything that is not quite right.
Once your selections are locked, most Kansas City kitchens run six to twelve weeks on site. The thing setting the pace is almost always the custom cabinetry, so we order it early and build the whole schedule backward from the day it is due to land.
