Bathroom Remodel Cost in Kansas City
Bathrooms are small rooms with big bills, and that surprises people. Call three contractors, describe the exact same room, and the three numbers you get back will not be close. So here is the straight version. Below is what we typically charge for a bathroom in Kansas City, where that money actually goes, and roughly how many weeks it eats up. Run the estimator, then ask Dave for a free line-item quote when you want a number you can hold us to.

The Short Answer
Bathroom remodel price ranges in Kansas City
Nearly every bathroom we build falls into one of three buckets. Which one is yours comes down to a few questions. Does the current layout work, or are you fighting a cramped shower every morning? Is the shower getting fully retiled, or just cleaned up? How nice do the fixtures need to be before you flinch at the total? The ranges below are what we typically charge on our own projects across the metro, from Leawood up to the Northland. They are our numbers from bathrooms we have actually built, not a national average pulled off a chart somewhere.
| Project type | What we typically charge | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Cosmetic refresh | $9,000 to $20,000 | New vanity, toilet, fixtures, lighting, paint and floor tile. The layout and plumbing stay where they are. |
| Mid-range remodel | $20,000 to $40,000 | A new tiled shower or tub, vanity, flooring and fixtures in the same footprint, finished top to bottom. |
| Full gut / luxury | $40,000 to $75,000+ | Walls or plumbing move, a tiled walk-in shower, freestanding tub, double vanity and custom stone or tile. |
These are Reimagined Remodeling's own project ranges, what we typically charge on real Kansas City bathrooms we have built, not generic market data or a national average. They are starting guidance, not a bid. Your exact number comes from a free walkthrough.

Where the Money Goes
What drives your bathroom remodel cost
The shower. Remember one line from this page and make it that one. A tiled shower is waterproofing, then a pan, then tile, then a tile setter spending real hours keeping every line true. On its own it can run a few thousand dollars, sometimes a lot more.
Moving plumbing. The day you decide the vanity should sit on the opposite wall, you have signed up for new drains, new supply lines, and an inspector who has to come look before we can close things back up. Leave the fixtures where they are and that whole cost disappears.
Tile, and how much of it. Ceramic is cheap. Porcelain plank is a step up. Real stone is another world again, both to buy and to cut and set. A shower tiled floor to ceiling simply drinks more of whatever you pick.
The vanity. A stock cabinet with a cultured top is one price. A custom cabinet under a quartz or stone counter is a very different one. Ask for two sinks and you have roughly doubled that part of the budget.
Glass and the fittings. A frameless glass enclosure, a faucet set that feels solid in your hand, lighting that is not an afterthought. This is the stuff that makes a finished bathroom read as finished, and none of it is the bargain option.
The boring line items nobody pictures. Permit fees. The dumpster in the driveway. The paper and plastic that keep your floors and hallway alive through two weeks of demo dust. We put all of it on the quote up front so it does not show up as a surprise in week two.
How Long It Takes
Your bathroom remodel timeline
Design and selections
1 to 3 weeks
We measure, draw it up, and get the tile, vanity, shower and fixtures locked down before anyone picks up a hammer.
Demo and rough-in
3 to 5 days
The old bathroom comes out, plumbing and wiring get reset for the new plan, and the inspector signs off before we close the walls.
Tile, shower and vanity
1 to 2 weeks
The shower gets waterproofed and tiled, the floor goes in, then the vanity, toilet and glass. Tile is slow by nature and we do not rush it.
Finish and punch list
2 to 4 days
Fixtures set, trim and paint done, and a walkthrough where you and Dave go looking for anything that is not quite right.
Once your selections are locked in, most Kansas City bathrooms run three to six weeks on site. What sets the pace is nearly always the tiled shower. Waterproofing has to cure and tile cannot be rushed, so we plan the whole job around that stretch instead of pretending it will go faster than it does.
